· He has scientific experience, having started his career in research at ICI

· A Chartered Accountant, he qualified with Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMG) in London

· He is a freeman of the City of London

· He gained fund management and corporate finance experience at Lazard Brothers

· He has experience, in over twenty countries, of international business environments and cultures

· He has wide commercial experience, working with US multinationals such as National Semiconductor Inc and Qualcomm Inc, as well as smaller UK companies

· He is a  director of several companies, both private and public including Fiske Plc, www.fiskeplc.com and Vipera plc, www.vipera.com .
